FIX YOUR STROKE

Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned veteran, everyone is looking to improve their putting stroke.

Remember, the key to the Pro-Align is to start more putts on the proper aim line. The more we improve our ability to read the greens, and the more putts we start on that proper aim line, the more putts we are going to make.

Let’s focus on starting your putts on your aim line.

It’s helpful to have a friend help you with this drill. It only takes a couple minutes. If there is know one around, you can still do it by yourself.

  • Grab a few balls and set the Pro-Align up.
  • Place a mark on the ground (use a piece of tape) where your proper ball position is.
  • Have your friend place the ball on that mark each putt.
  • Square your putter face up with the Support Arm.
  • Now hit the ball three feet. While doing this, focus only on the orange spot.

Here’s why:

While focusing on the orange spot, you are taking your mind off the ball and putter and focusing it on rolling the ball under that orange spot. As your putter goes out past the orange spot, ensure that it is still square to your aim line. This is going to help build your eye/hand coordination and muscle memory.

The reason to start with a three foot putt is if you cant get the ball rolling on line for a three foot putt, how are you going to do this on a longer putt.

If you see the ball go to the left of the spot, you pulled it, if you see the ball go to the right, you pushed it. What you want to see is the ball roll directly under the orange spot. Immediate feedback on your putt.

Keep doing this until you can repeatedly roll the ball under the orange spot.

When you can do that from three feet away, move back to a five foot putt, then a 10 foot putt, etc...

If you have trouble getting the ball under the spot, you may need to make some changes to your grip, stance, stroke, whatever it may be. Keep changing things up until you find that stroke that gets the ball under the spot.

Keep in mind that everyone putts differently. Some instructors will tell you to putt with a pendulum motion. Some say it needs to be a little rounded from the inside. Find what works best for you.
