Tip

Break the head off the top of
a tee and place it in the
green (flush with the
green), at the point you
want the ball to be. This
way you can place the ball
in the same position each
time you putt.
PRACTICING
PRACTICING WITH THE PRO-ALIGN

With a little practice using the Pro-Align, you will become a better putter, guaranteed. We want to
help you start more of your putts on your aim line and develop a smooth, repeatable putting
stroke. Also, show you how to improve your green reading skills.

Before going through the practice section, please check out he
Why It Works and How To Use
pages. They will teach you the proper setup, alignment, and immediate feedback the Pro-Align
provides.

GETTING READY

Let's check your alignment first. Pick a 5 to 10 foot putt on the putting green or setup in your
living room and line up for that putt. Once you think you are aligned, have someone stand behind
you and tell you where your putter face is pointing. If it's right on your line, you have a pretty
good setup. If not, we'll fix it.

Now hit 5 putts either at the cup or at your target indoors. Keep track on whether you missed left
or right. Is this typical to what you do on the golf course? We'll now show you how to use the
Pro-Align to make these putts.

SETTING UP

Now that we know what side of the hole you're missing on, go ahead and set the Pro-Align in the
green on the same putt. Make sure the Alignment Bar is pointing directly down the aim line you
selected. If it isn't, stand behind the Alignment Bar and rotate the Pro-Align until it is.

Now set the ball down directly under the Alignment Bar and in front of the Support Arm
and place your putter down so the face is parallel to the Support Arm.

At this point, the Alignment Bar is providing a visual representation of your aim line, you have
correct eye position, and your putter face is perfectly square to your aim line. If at this time you
don't feel comfortable with the line, that's good. This is what you need to get used to because it's
the proper setup.

With this setup, hit 5 more putts. Any better? I bet it was. If it wasn't, you are either pushing or
pulling your putts. Let's take a look at how we can correct that.

IMMEDIATE FEEDBACK

The purpose of the Orange Spot on the end of the Alignment Bar is to tell us if we are pushing or
pulling your putts. This may take some getting used to, but give it a shot, it works.

What we want to do is focus on the Orange Spot when you putt. Some people we tested liked to
look at the spot the entire putt, others chose to focus on the spot on the start of their forward
stroke. Do what feels comfortable to you.

Now hit another putt focusing on the Orange Spot. Watch where the ball exits the spot. If it goes
left you pulled your putt. If it goes right, you pushed your putt. If it goes directly under the spot,
you hit a perfect putt, or started your putt on your intended aim line.

Because of the speed of the putt, you may find it a little difficult to see the ball roll under the spot.
At this point, don't worry about getting the ball to the hole. Pretend you are hitting a 2 foot putt
while focusing on the spot. As you get used to that distance, start hitting it further until you can
see it while putting from 10 feet. Soon enough, you'll be able to see it on longer lag putts.

GREEN READING

Now that you are used to the immediate feedback, setup for a putt that has some break to it.
Line up the Pro-Align on your intended aim line. Hit some putts until you get the ball rolling
directly under the Orange Spot. If you miss the putt, with good speed (18 inches or so past the
hole) then you know that you misread the putt. Go ahead and rotate the Pro-Align until you find
the perfect line. Once you have it set, see how many putts you can make. This is what will help
build that smooth, tempo controlled stroke.

This is good before each round of golf you play. You can find your putting stroke in 5 minutes
using the Pro-Align. It'll also help with the breaks in the green that day. Let's say you set up for
what you think is a 12 inch break. If you set the Pro-Align aiming 12 inches out and it's breaking
more or less, you know the greens are not breaking like you thought. This will help you on the
course.

TAKE IT TO THE COURSE

So how do we take this concept to the course? Well, after some practice sessions with the
Pro-Align you already started grooving a smooth, repeatable putting stroke.

When you get on the putting green, pick out your aim line. About 6 inches in front of your ball on
your aim line, pick out a blade of grass or a discoloration on the green as your Orange Spot. Now
with the practice you did, set the putter face square to that line. Focus on the spot like you did in
practice and make your stroke. Watch the ball roll over your spot and into the hole.
